The eponymous hot springs are a great place to relax and restore yourself. These natural hot springs are full of minerals, minus sulfur, and reach temperatures between 102-112 degrees. There are five outdoor pools, each with differing temperatures. The hot springs are ever-changing as 2.5 million gallons of hot mineral water rush through the pools each day before dumping into the Portneuf River. Facilities include dressing rooms, showers, restrooms and coin-operated lockers.
If you're looking for a more family-friendly option, check out the Olympic Swimming Complex. This complex includes the indoor swimming complex and Portneuf Kiddie Cove, both of which are open year-round. The outdoor swimming complex and water slides are open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Lava Hot Springs Golf Course offers a gorgeous setting for your golf excursion. This nine-hole course utilizes the backdrop of Dempsey Creek Valley to create a pristine golfing environment replete with mountains and river views. Lave Hot Springs Golf Course opened in 1970 and has offered a unique golfing experience since.
Though the course has nine holes, you can still play 18. Prices start at $22 for nine holes and $37 for 18. Cart rentals are available for $10. The course is open Monday through Saturday. Those interested can call ahead to book a tee time at 208-648-4170 or you can just show up. Either way, Lava Hot Springs Golf Course is a great place to visit.
Only 25 miles or 34 minutes to the north on I-15 is Pebble Creek Ski Area! Experience the natural beauty of the Portneuf mountain range by enjoying a day of skiing. The Pebble Creek Ski Area is set on the northwestern slope of Bonneville Peak and is home to 51 named runs, three lifts and two terrain parks. The majority of the runs are either intermediate or advanced in difficulty but there are some that are beginner or expert.
Pebble Creek Ski Area averages about 225 inches of snowfall a season on its 1,100-acre property with a 2,200-foot vertical drop. Full-day passes start at $57 for adults 18 and over with half-day passes running at $45. The ski area also offers lessons, rentals and programs for skiers and snowboards of all skills.
